A.R.T.S. - Spired - Organic Spider Mite Treatment

A.R.T.S. Spired is a natural spray for controlling red spider mites (also known as Spider mites or webspinning mites) including their eggs and larvae.

Spired is an organic spray which dissolves the webs and eggs of spider mites, thus suppressing spider mite populations.

Spired consists of clove oil and other natural ingredients, such as quassia (extract from bitter-wood).

To free your crop of red spider mites, spray it with Spired in an early stage of the infection. The sources of infection will then be encapsulated, as it were. Proper coverage is essential for good results.

Good experiences with this product are described in trade literature for pot plants, bedding plants, cut flowers, vegetables (except sweet peppers), fruit and trees.

The risk of crops developing resistance is unlikely. Spired does not affect natural predators. Spray your crop at least 2 to 3 times every 4 to 7 days.

A.R.T.S. Spired application and dosage:

1L of liquid is sufficient to spray about 10 m2.

Spray your crop a few minutes before you switch off the lamps.

Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.

CURATIVE: mix 50 ml of SPIRED with 1 l of lukewarm water or mix the entire contents of this flask with 5 l of lukewarm water. Thoroughly shake the mixed product. Spray the undersides of the leaves first and then the top sides.

REPEAT: every 4 to 7 days, depending on the intensity of the infection.

PREVENTIVE: mix 25 ml of SPIRED with 1 l of lukewarm water and shake well. Treat your crop once every two weeks, spraying the undersides of the leaves first and then the top sides.

What is Red spider mite (Tetranychus urticae)?

Red spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) also known as Spider mite or webspinning mite is extremely small, barely visible with the naked eye as reddish or greenish spots on leaves and stems; the adults measure about 0.5 mm. The red spider mite, which can be seen in greenhouses and tropical and temperate zones spinning a fine web on and under leaves. Mites inhabit the underside of the leaf and are not readily apparent.

As day lengths reduce in the autumn, they become deep red in colour. They are not insects, but arachnids, the same family as spiders.

The first signs are a general 'sick' look of your plant, with some mottling of the upper leaf surface. This generally happens before the webs or mites are noticed. Plants just stop growing, foliage takes on a discolored look pale and sometimes bronze. It may be necessary to view with magnifying glass to confirm the presence of Red Spider Mite.

Spider mites are spread easily by wind, humans and animals. So, with spider mites, the best offense is a good defense!. Therefore, it is wise to check your plants regularly to detect any infestation. If you detect any, act quickly to prevent spreading which will take less effort and cost less. Otherwise all your plants may be invaded by spider mites on following weeks.
